At Clever we are always working to make logins easier for our schools, which means we are constantly upgrading our app for the better. This article will cover the expected user experience for the Clever iOS app on mobile devices running on iOS version 9.0 or later.
Badges: Expected Login Behavior
Once the Clever iOS app is downloaded on your students’ mobile devices, they’ll click the app to open it.
The first screen they will see is the Clever Badge camera. In the top right corner, your students have the ability to toggle between the front-facing and back facing camera. Once the Badge camera appears, students will need to hold their badge up the camera on the mobile device. If the student is using a valid badge, a green check mark should appear with sparkles to signify a successful login!
The application will then launch the Safari browser where students are signed into their Clever account and can access all of their learning applications.
Without Badges: Expected Login Behavior
When students open the Clever iOS app, they will see the Badge Camera. On the bottom of the screen, users will have the ability to click the blue 'Log in with username/password' button. This will immediately open a new Clever tab in a Safari browser.
The user can then choose their school and log in by typing a username and password. Once a school is picked, it will be remembered if a user goes back to the Clever app and hits the blue 'Log in with username/password' button again. Users should not have to choose their school or district again if the Safari or the Clever apps were never fully closed.
Best practices for using multiple apps in one session
We aim to connect students, teachers, and staff to as many of their resources as possible. After a user is logged into Clever in the Safari browser, they will be able to click on one of their connected applications. This will open the application or external link within the original tab. If a user wants to go back to their original tab, they should use the Safari back button. They will still be signed into their Clever portal when they go back to it and can access their other applications from there.
Best practices for logging out
It is expected that if a user returns to the Clever iOS application and clicks the blue 'Log in with username/password' button, they will automatically be logged out of any previously running Clever sessions in Safari and asked to sign in again.
For shared devices, please have the first user log completely out of Clever, and out of Google, before the next user logs in. This will ensure that all previous sessions running in Safari are logged out. Please click HERE for detailed instructions.
What are the differences if my devices run on iOS version 9 or 10?
The login behavior is similar as described above, however, if your device runs on iOS versions 9 or 10, there might be an additional screen during the login process:
Anytime that this screen appears, simply click 'Continue' to get connected to your applications!
