We transitioned from using individual program links embedded in a Google site to the Clever Portal for most of our 40 schools in the 17-18 school year. Overall, our users have found this to be a positive - by assigning each site a School Tech Lead who can edit the Portal and add non-Clever apps, there's a high level of customization available for each site. The Portal has also been easier to edit than Sites. There are a couple items of feedback:
-In the event of a Clever outage, use of Instant Login and the Portal precludes students from accessing some programs - both because the Portal is down, and because Clever does not share the credentials with the apps themselves. We've been looking for ways around this, but haven't come up with a ton of options.
-Some schools have asked for an even finer-tooth comb when it comes to customizing the Portal (i.e. adding or removing some links down to the student level). Not sure how feasible this is, but some folks have mentioned this as a possible use case.
-We're a 40-school organization, so getting a School Tech Lead at each site has been a challenge. Creating a Google Drive knowledge base on how to edit the Portal has eased the lift for newcomers to that role.
