The first step is to set a custom Portal URL for your district, which your students and teachers will use to access Clever and connected applications. To set a custom Portal URL for your district, navigate to your district dashboard > Portal > Portal Settings.
The portal URL will be www.clever.com/in/<shortname>. Remember to use something that your students and teachers will remember easily. To change your district's Portal URL, click the URL text box to edit the shortname. Make sure to click 'Save'! For more resources on managing the portal, click here.
Clever single sign-on (SSO) allows students and teachers to access education apps with the username and password they already use in your district. To add a login method for Clever, navigate to your district dashboard > Portal > SSO Settings. In the top right corner, click 'Add Login Method' and select the login method you wish to add for Clever.
District Information and Login Hints
Clever Support is prepared to help district-level staff troubleshoot connecting single sign-on (SSO) to your user management system (e.g. GAFE or ADFS), but we do not have the ability to help districts manage school-level user accounts and password troubleshooting.
As a way to help with logins, you can input login hints here that will appear on the login page for students and teachers for usernames and passwords (i.e. Student Password = 10-digit student ID number).
To add login hints, click on the Customize tab on the SSO Settings page. In the example below, hint have been provided for Login with Clever, but not for Login with Google.

- Editing login method order
Tech Support Contact
You may also enter the technical support contact information for your district. It is highly recommended to include this contact for your district. This should be the person or office that can assist teachers and students with various issues that concern the user management system (i.e. Google, Clever Passwords, etc.).
When errors arise that can be solved by the district tech office, the contact information you provide will appear on the Clever login page for your district's Portal.

Distribute login information to teachers
Once you've configured your single sign-on (SSO) settings, we recommend sending an email to let your teachers and school admins know how to log in, and which credentials they and their students should use.
Clever has provided both a link to download a PDF with login instructions (1) and and email tool (2) for each application so district admins can easily share this information with teachers:
If you select, 'View Email', you will see a preview of an email that will be sent to your teachers from your Clever associated email, letting them know that they now have access to that particular application. Press 'Send' to send to teachers.
